Hi Vicky I am tracing back my part of the Fountain family as follows:

JOHN FOUNTAINE “unknown dates” m Jane Knight 28/6/1677 Tottenhoe Bedfordshire.
Children:
Thomas Fountaine b Puttenham, Hertfordshire 23/4/1685, Elizabeth Puttenham Hertfordshire 24/6/1688.
Deaths of all four unknown.

Thomas Fountaine
b 1685 Parents: “Jo and Jan at Puttenham Hertfordshire”> John and Jane on Familysearc.org
m Elizabeth Brandom (b Puttenham Hertfordshire) m in Slapton Bucks or Bedford not sure Children born in Puttenham

ne 1710     John 1712-    Thomas 1722-
   m Phaebe Dimmock
Children:
Elizabeth 1733, Thomas 1735, James 1739, Bernard 1742, William 1744, Phaebe 1745, Matthew 1748, Mark 1750

Then we go to back to Buckinghamshire and there is a bit of a gap here:
William  (b Ellesborough Bucks) m Mary Brandon Buckland 15/8/1767
(Note: William Fountain
Children:
ASTON CLINTON BUCKINGHAMSHIRE LINE Born at Slapton
William 1772, Mary 1781, Thomas 1777, Georg 1769, Sarah 1784, Solomon 1779 (m Sarah Hughes,
Joseph 1784, Ann 1787 child Martha, emigrated to Australia)and
THIS IS OUR LINE FROM HERE:
John about 1776  (d about 1860) m Mariah Philby 13/10/1801 at Aston Clinton

Children:
Elizabeth 1803, Mary 1804 d 1811, John d 1806, Henry 1807, Susannah 1809, Sarah 1811 m William Fiskett, Ann 1815 m Joseph Fiskett.
Thomas 1819 d 1889 m Harriet Turner (b Gloucester)

Children:
CHELTENHAM LINE Note: ? Name of William Carey – Carey is in Fountain family tree overall in female names)
William Carey 1851, Thomas H 1852 (Middlesex London)
Cheltenham
William Carey Fountain m (1) Emma Hawkes (Twyning Gloucester 1869 parents Michael & Caroline Hawkes)
d 1886 (2) Ann (?Mary) from Shipton Yorkshire 1890/91
My grandfather from this last marriage: William Carey Fountain to Emma Hawkes - Charles Guy Fountain b 1881 in Aston Warwick is the connection.  I have traced from there but am interested in John Fountaine who married Jane Knight - I am not sure if he fits in the the Bucks Fountains but probably does.

If this John is connected to your family I would be very interested to hear from you.

Regards
Christine

I have the pedigree for the Fountains of Eaton Bray and they originate from Cheddington in Buckinghamshire. The John Fountain who married Jane Knight at Toternhoe is  not the same JOHN FOUNTAIN who married Elizabeth Cook 1695. A Mr HAROLD FAULKNER  spent 40 odd years tracing this and he deposited the Fountain pedigree at the record office in Aylesbury Bucks. This also covers the Slapton branch of the Fountains.  It is very accurate having been checked by numerous people.

Thanks for that - since above posting a year ago, I have found the pedigree lines for the family. They go back to 1525 in Cheddington and further back I have identified from various rolls etc. including trees from H Faulkner's book, in various Buckinghamshire areas of the Cottesloe Hundreds.
Thanks for your help

I am currently researching my Fountain family line which includes Sarah Fountain born in 1674 died 1756. Her father was Thomas and mother Mary (surname not known). I am getting v. confused as I have a family bible left by a great-aunt with a list of family surnames including Gayton and Cook(e). My line descends through Presswell but I have found an Ann Fountain (nee Gayton) and various Cook(e)s...please can anyone shed any light? KK
