Puddefoot's of Eaton Bray

Hi,  I have traced my husbands family to a Michael Puddefoot who married Mary Stiles nee French in 1846.  The census returns for this couple tell me Michael was born in Eaton Bray about 1796.  He was a widow when he married Mary and his father was given as Michael Puddefoot, farmer.  I have now drawn a blank and wondered if anyone could help me with this line.  I live in the north of England so trips to the records offices etc would be very difficult.  Thanks in anticipation.
Liz

Hi Liz

Marriage for Michael's parents...

Can you tell me what census you have found Michael and Mary on. I can only
find Michael with an Elizabeth in 1841.
There is also another Michael baptised 1791 in Eaton Bray also married to an Elizabeth.

Hi
Michael married Mary Stiles in Marylebone in 1846.  He was in Marylebone with what must be his daughter, Elizabeth aged 12 in 1841 (HO107/679/8 fol 9 p10).  In 1851 he was with his wife Mary and granddaughter Elizabeth Puddefoot aged 4 at Elstree (HO107/1714 fol 49 p 4), in 1861 he and Mary were at Greenwich (RG9/400 fol 44 p11) and in 1871 at Greenwich (RG10/654 fol 63 p7).  Each time his year of birth was 1796 and the returns from 1851 onwards say he was born in Eaton Bray Beds.  From this information we presume there is a link to the Eaton Bray Puddefoots.
Thanks for your help
Liz

Dear Sir / Madam

I have a family bible that belonged to the Puddlefoots in Eaton Bray. On the inside cover is written the births and deaths of of a number of family members from Fred Stanbridge Puddlefoot born 31st Jan 1852 up to William Noah Puddlefoot who died 17th Nov 1945 aged 89 years. I rescued this from a pile of waste paper at a local tip a couple of years ago. I do want want any payment for this , I just want it to go to a good home. If it is of any use then please call me on 07718 155528.

I have a few Puddefoots in my GADSDEN family tree:

Rose Gadsden married Harold PUDDEFOOT and had 3 children - Ivy 1901, Harold 1902 and Florence 1903.

Rose's brother Richard Ellingham GADSDEN married Emily (who I think was a Puddefoot before).  The first son is called Stanley John Puddefoot Gadsden b.1900.

Hope this helps to swell your family tree.

I also have Brinklows marrying Gadsdens too.  The families from Eaton Bray seemed to intermarry quite a bit over the generations.
