Loft insulation scammers in Eaton Bray

We have had a few reports over the last 24 hours that there are loft insulation scammers working through the village. They have visited several people in the village with no ID or knowledge of the company they work for making cold calls asking to check people's loft for insulation.
Fortunately, these people have been vigilant, but residents should be aware, especially pensioners and their families, to be on their guard and not to buy anything based on a cold-call.

,Cllr Mark Tomkins says:It is good advice not to let anyone into your home without a pre-arranged appointment. That way you can verify any meeting details without being put on the spot at your door. If they are genuine salespeople, they will accept the need for verification.

,Carolyn says:They were here yesterday! I told them that I had already been advised that additional loft insulation was not necessary but they were quite insistent. They lost their credibility when they told me my neighbour Bob had has his done - I know all my neighbours and there isn't a "Bob"!!! - Thanks for the warning

,Thames Valley Police says:Thames Valey Police Aylesbury Vale have been made aware of two young males who have been calling at houses in Edlesborough and Eaton Bray over recent days claiming to be from a company offering free loft insulation. The youths have been trying to gain access to properties and get to the loft area. When challenged they have not been able to state their company name or telephone number. They are not believed to be genuine. Do not let anyone into your home if you are unsure of their identity.
