Central Bedfordshire Representative/s

Ward Cllrs Ken Janes and Marion Mustoe attended the meeting. A question was put to Ward Cllr Janes regarding a recent planning application presented to the Development Committee at Central Bedfordshire; Cllr Janes informed the meeting that the grounds given for refusal of the planning application were not sufficient for the planning application to be turned down. The Parish Council/residents expressed their disappointment at the outcome of this matter.

Planning Issues

The Parish Council recently wrote to Andrew Selous MP to enquire as to the role of Parish Councils in the planning process. The reply from the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Communities and Location Government states: "... although Parish Councils ... do not feature in the list of statutory consultees ... it becomes a statutory duty of the local planning authority to notify the parish council about relevant applications ... the purpose of this notification is to invite comments from the parish ... the planning authority may not determine a planning application until a parish intending to comment has done so ... However parish council representations are not binding on the local authority ... the decision maker ... is the district or borough council or unitary authority."

St Mary’s Church – Flower Beds

The new church yard flower beds are now complete and are looking fabulous. If you have the time, please take a look - the design and work for these flower beds (situated at the main entrance to the Church) came from the school children at Eaton Bray Lower School.
