CricketIn the end Bray were soundly beaten by visitors Knebworth Blues despite getting off to one of the best starts in their history.

At 152-1 and 10 overs remaining, a massive score loomed, but the fall of Norris for 75 and skipper Pea Cock for 44 in successive overs signalled the arrival of a calypso collapse with Barker, Spicer, Taylor and Jones all going for ducks and Kerins, Harvey and Roff all fairing little better.

Left standing on 22 (well staggering) at the other end was local drunk and public disgrace 'Chuck Up' Harris. After sending the wife away for the weekend with the kids he was able to make his sunday debut this season. But after a heavy night out celebrating his birthday the night before, the pale faced run scorer was a shadow of his normal self and was sick shortly after arriving at the ground.

Bray ended up 183 all out off the final ball and had to take early wickets. Key man Woolley was dropped early on off his own bowling by Kerins (who later claimed he caught the middle ball) and then again by Taylor off the luckless Jones. Taylor subsequently claimed that this was his first ever dropped catch throughout his glittering 74 year career, but we all have our doubts.

Woolley was later dropped a 3rd time by keeper Harris as Blues comfortably won the game despite Jake Barker still shouting that Bray would win when only 3 runs were needed off 5 overs with 7 wickets in hand!

Moral of the day: Catches win matches and alcohol gives you a hangover.
