Luton Borough Dragons Whites - 4

Eaton Bray Lions AFCThe 0-4 scoreline doesn't in any way reflect how well the team played or the gravity of their achievement on Saturday against Luton Borough Dragons, who brought their A team out to face them.

The first half was very much an exercise in finding our feet, as a steady stream of goals slipped past our able defences.

The second twenty minutes was a different matter altogether, as the U8 Blues held off every attempt Luton Borough made to try and score, and made good progress up the field on several occasions.

A goal would have been nice and there were instances where one would have been well deserved, but here's to the next match and a fantastic performance turned in from each and every player!

Luton Borough Dragons U8 - 0
EB Lions U8 Reds - 5

After a really strong start with all the pressure coming from Lions they opened the scoring with a shot from Harry from outside the box. Lions kept up the pressure with all players supporting each other and plenty of passing.

Dragons packed the defence and their keeper made some good saves but a shot from George put Lions two up. Dax went on a run and got Lions' third goal from a very acute angle.

In the second half it took a while and a lot of effort from Lions before George scored his second. After numerous attacking runs a Lions' corner finally pressured Dragons into scoring an own goal.

Lions were solid in defence and when attacking always looked likely to score. The team performed strongly in all areas. It was a great start to their mini league games.

Beecroft Rovers U10 - 5
EB Lions U10 - 2

Spectators garbed in shorts and T-shirts, a verdant pitch and glistening boots that left the field as clean as they came on: it was the football season, but not as we knew it. Nor were the EB Lions UlOs accustomed to being on the receiving end of a 5-2 scoreline, a result that belied the aptitude and ingenuity of an all-new, fitter, faster team.

Some weaving runs by new player Sean Woodhouse looked encouraging and there was a sense of promise that he might find the net, but his efforts were frustrated. Perennial scorer Dominic Ryan found success though, slotting the ball past Beecroft's keeper after 22 minutes and then again in the 42nd minute.

There was outstanding work from just about every player in a striped shirt at some point or other, culminating in an impressive, if frustrating, debut to the season.
